WebDAV Access to your Files

WebDAV Access

All the files that you store in your online drive, along will the files shared with you by others are available to be mounted as local drives in Windows, Mac or Linux desktops.

Windows 7/Vista

To map your files as a network drive in Windows 7, follow these steps:

  • Double click on My Computer
  • Click on Map Network Drive
  • Select the drive you want to map it as
  • In the Folder enter the URL generated through
    Unknown macro: {link-window}this link

  • Click on Finish
  • When prompted, enter your e-mail address and password
  • Click OK

Your drive should now be mapped

Windows XP

Unfortunately Windows XP does not support secure WebDAV connections and it is therefore impossible to use the native Windows functions to map a PolarisMail webdrive. Third party WebDAV clients, such as AnyClient, might be able to get around this limitation.

Linux

  • Make sure “davfs2” is installed.
  • Create a mount point as root:
    mkdir /polarisdrive
  • In /etc/davfs2/davfs2.conf add
    ignore_home kernoops
  • Add your user to the davfs2 group in /etc/group. Find the line with davfs2 and append your user name like this:
    davfs2:x:130:username
  • Obtain your PolarisMail WebDAV URL from
    Unknown macro: {link-window}this link

  • Then, add the following line to /etc/davfs2/secrets:
    <https://PolarisMail WebDAV URL>    e-mail    mypassword
  • Now run
    chmod u+s /sbin/mount.davfs
  • Now you can mount the drive with the file manager or on the terminal as the normal user:
    mount /polarisdrive

Macintosh

To map your files as a network drive on a Mac, follow these steps:

  • Using Finder, on the Go menu, click on Connect to Server
  • In the Server Address field, enter the URL generated through
    Unknown macro: {link-window}this link

  • Click on Connect
  • When prompted, enter your e-mail address and password
  • Click OK

Smartphones

The hostname to use is always the same, generated through this link.

Here are some tips on clients that you may use, according to your smartphone operating system. Notice we only offer suggestions, but cannot official support any of these tools.
